Appointments With Legislators
Appointments with legislators and/or staff should be scheduled by members ahead of time. Feedback from legislators and staff is positive when members frame visits around their status as an employer in the community in addition to discussing services provided.
On this page, PCPA has included links to help identifying legislators, find their contact information, and communicate with them by phone or email. Sample language below can help schedule those appointments.
Sample Language to Request an Appointment
Dear Senator/Representative (last name):
Throughout the day on June 8 members of the Pennsylvania Community Providers Association (PCPA) will meet individually with their representatives in the General Assembly.
I would like to schedule a meeting with you to discuss issues of concern to community providers in your district and the people they serve. PCPA members annually serve over one million children and adults with mental illness, intellectual disability, autism, and addiction disorders across the state.
I hope that I can arrange for an appointment with you or a member of your staff on June 8. Please let me know when Senator/Representative (last name) or a staff member will be available. (or) I will call your office to determine the best meeting time.
Thank you. I look forward to meeting with you
After Your Visit
Please complete the Capitol Day 2010 Feedback Form to let PCPA know which legislators were visited, how those meetings went, and any suggestions for improving Capitol Day activities in years to come.
