Legislative Internship

Looking for a hands-on experience in state government? PLS is always looking for legislative reporting interns for semester-long stints at our Harrisburg office. Duties include covering committee meetings, public hearings and press conferences, writing stories on those events, and posting updates online. Interns will be compensated and we are willing to work to ensure academic credit is received when possible. Hours can range from 20-40 hours/week, depending on the needs of the intern, the schedule of the legislature, and the number of interns hired. The ideal candidate will have an interest in politics and/or the political process, excellent writing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and other computer suites. Reporting experience is a plus. We accept applications on a rolling basis.

Legislative Data Specialist

PLS is looking for a versatile, detail-oriented professional to fill a key role on its legislative tracking team. Duties are diverse but include maintaining key information on our main product, the Capitol Toolbox; covering legislative session activity in real-time; attending and reporting on committee meetings and press conferences; and assisting with other related duties as needed. The ideal candidate will have a dedicated, meticulous nature, be able to multitask, work independently, and enjoy taking on new challenges in a high-energy environment. Knowledge of the Pennsylvania legislative process and prior experience in Pennsylvania state government is a must. Work hours vary with some evenings and all legislative session days required. We offer a generous compensation package and company paid benefits and vacation package.
